With the economy in it’s current down turn, many non-profits have turned to providing an incentive to raise donations. The thought is, many people are more willing to give if they are receiving something in return. The bigger picture is, donors feel more involved and appreciated if they receive something more than just a form letter as a thank you.
A short list of the different options available are:
- Discount Cards
- Matching programs through employers
- Donor appreciation gifts
- Earn points per dollar/donation toward gift programs (increasing retention & longevity of donors)
- The pass it on incentive: “for every dollar we receive, we donate X amount to Y charity/non-profit”
- Magazine orders for a portion of the profits (The Special Olympics was able to entice me with this one)
As you know charities and non-profits simply do not run without donations. Thus, companies are endlessly creating new ideas for reaching donors and their donation dollars.
Would this be a viable option for your charity or non-profit?
